As our final days of living in London are fast aproaching, it is about time to unleash on the world the itinerary of our travels over the next few months. If you happen to be in the area when we are there, let us know and we'll meet up!

The trip is in two parts, first Europe, New York and Whistler:

  • December 23 Fly to Amsterdam on BA440, Arrive 18:30
  • December 27 4 nights in Berlin by train, New Years Eve back in Amsterdam
  • January 5 Fly to London for the weekend to take care of some business
  • January 26 Fly to New York JFK on Delta 81, arrive 13:25
  • February 2 Fly to Seattle on Delta 1124, arrive 11:51, take bus to Vancouver
  • February 3 Snowbus to Whistler!
  • February 10 Back to Vancouver for 1 night, spend next few days in Seattle area
  • February 14 Back to Amsterdam via JFK on Delta 1514 and 80, arrive Feb 15 at 7:55

The second part of the trip is on a Global Explorer ticket. This means we pay one fare based on how many miles we travel on a group of airlines (mostly OneWorld members) but with some limitations on number of stops per continent. JAL has a good overview of all the rules. Our tickets costs GBP1700 without taxes, which came to about GBP300. Then we also decided to upgrade LHR-MEX and SIN-LHR to World Traveller Plus (well worth it on BA) which brought the total to GBP2350 per person. Unfortunately, due to the US embargo against Cuba, we had to pay for seperate flights from Mexico City to there as there was no way we could get this on our Global Explorer tickets.

  • Feb 16 Fly to London on BA429 and change onto BA243 To Mexico, arriving at 18:20
  • Feb 17 Fly to Havana, Cuba
  • Feb 24 From Cuba back to MEX and on to Lima on LP627, arriving there Feb 25 at 6:00
  • Feb 25 From LIM to Cuzco on LP021, for a visit to Machu Picchu, arriving 9:25
  • Mar 01 From CUZ to Lima on LP038, arriving 16:40
  • Mar 02 From LIM to Buenos Aires on LP429, arriving 13:30

From here we have 18 days to make our way to Santiago in Chile, we plan to go up north to Iguazu Falls and then down to the Lake District and enter Chile by crossing the Andes.

  • Mar 21 From Santiago to Easter Island on LA841, arriving 11:10
  • Mar 25 From Easter Island to Papeete (Tahiti) on LA833, arriving 23:20
  • Mar 31 From Papeete to Adelaide via Sydney on QF328 and QF747, arriving April 1 at 12:00

This being an around the world ticket, we also have flights back to London, on the first of July, but that is a long way away!
